New Big Band CD in the works...

So I've been busy in the Penryn CA studio of Guy Kowarsh the last month, re-recording my vocal tracks over the 4-year-old originals from a February 2006 live multi-tracked recording he made during a wonderful performance with the Reno Jazz Orchestra. In order to improve my performance and sound quality, I am choosing to re-do all my vocals, but... I have to carefully match my originals, as they had "bled" onto other microphones (horns/ piano/ drums) and we get a bit of a ghost effect. But that is to be expected with most live recordings, and hopefully the listener can enjoy the energy and beauty of a live concert in their living room when this is ready! I love working on the great repertoire of 1930's, 40's and 50's "Great American Songbook" selections like "The Nearness of You", "I've Got the World on a String", "It Don't Mean a Thing", "When I Fall in Love", "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" - a cornucopia of great love songs! Guy is AWESOME to work with - I highly recommend him for any recording project you are considering, and the Reno Jazz Orchestra is kickin' it with the swingin' grooves! I hope you'll enjoy it! Expecting a late August release?
